Trust Mountain Academy is the first ever primary school from whole East Africa which attended WITS International Mathematics Competition in 2024. It is the Mathematics Competition prepared by UNIVERSITY OF THE WITWATERSRAND, JOHANNESBURG in order to assess students for their mathematical skills and ability. It is open to all students in Africa in the appropriate age division and comprises of two rounds. In 2024 Trust Mountain Academy attended the competition with 8 students from two levels.

WITS Mathematics competition qualifying round took place on 16th May, 2024 at Trust Mountain Academy. It was done by eight students (MUHIRE SHAMI Christella, MUTONIWASE Belinda, RUTABAGISHA NEZERWA Honesta, GANZA MUHOZA Aimee Christian, CYUBAHIRO IHIRWE Ryan, IRIRENGA AKIMANA Keysha, BERWA Lily and NDENZI NIYONKURU Pamela Pacifique). For this round, five of them got the certificates and three advanced to the final round.

 

Final round took place on 18th September, 2024 at Trust Mountain Academy. It was done by MUHIRE SHAMI Christella, MUTONIWASE Belinda and RUTABAGISHA NEZERWA Honesta. They were only students from Rwanda in middle primary and upper primary to participate the final round. 

Last year, WITS Mathematics competition became a stage for our students to shine and shine they did! Two of them secured remarkable positions, with RUTABAGISHA NEZERWA Honesta 3rd place overall and MUHIRE SHAMI Christella taking 4th place overall. 

These achievements highlight the dedication of Mathematics teachers at Trust Mountain Academy, who work tirelessly to prepare our students for international competitions. We can’t thank WITS organizers enough for providing a platform that uplifts and celebrates our young talents.
